3.6 The Daghesh and Syllabification. The Daghesh Lene occurs only in a begadkephat consonant in order to distinguish between the hard and soft pronunciation values (BBA 1.3). The Daghesh Lene does not affect syllabification. The Daghesh Forte doubles the pronunciation of a consonant and may appear in any consonant except the gutturals and ר (BBA 2.12.2).
